Date:
On July 6th, Gaoton Medical successfully performed dozens of ultrasound-guided percutaneous low-temperature plasma ablation (ULTPA) of thyroid/breast tumors in multiple hospitals in Yunnan Province under the leadership of experts, with all patients recovering well post-surgery. The successful execution of this procedure signifies a groundbreaking innovation by Gaoton Medical, reaching a new pinnacle in the field of minimally invasive surgical intervention for thyroid and breast tumors.

Case 1
A 62-year-old male patient has had an anterior neck swelling for ten days. Ultrasound examination revealed a tumor in the left lobe of the thyroid gland, measuring 2.1x1.8 cm with clear boundaries. The needle cytological biopsy showed no presence of cancer cells.

Ultrasound-guided percutaneous low-temperature plasma ablation (ULTPA) of thyroid tumors is precise and controllable throughout the procedure, with an ablation time of only 20 seconds. The entire operation lasted 20 minutes, and postoperative ultrasonography indicated a successful outcome.

Case 2
A 48-year-old female patient reported gradual enlargement of her left breast for seven days before admission. Ultrasound examination revealed a lump at the one o'clock position in the left breast, measuring 2.0x1.5 cm with clear boundaries. Needle cytological biopsy showed no presence of cancer cells.

Under local infiltration anesthesia, ULTPA of the breast tumor was successfully completed. The ablation time was again only 20 seconds, and the entire operation lasted 20 minutes. The patient walked out of the operating room after an hour of observation.

ULTPA of thyroid/breast tumors is an emerging minimally invasive treatment technique. The principle of the low-temperature plasma technique involves generating a plasma state by stimulating a medium such as sodium chloride in collagen molecules when a multi-polar probe is connected with electrical energy under a specific waveform. The highly energized particles in the plasma can break down tissue molecules and convert tissue protein into low molecular weight gases such as H2, O2, CO2, and methane, thereby achieving vaporization, cutting, perforation, ablation, shrinkage, dissection, hemostasis, and other effects.

During the surgery, the doctor only needs to insert the long and thin plasma electrode or ablation electrode into the patient's thyroid/breast nodules under local infiltration anesthesia. The plasma released through the electrode precisely ablates the diseased tissue, ensuring the surrounding normal tissue remains undamaged.
Compared to traditional open surgery, ULTPA offers many advantages: low temperature, minimally invasive, no carbonization, rapid postoperative recovery, and most patients experience mild postoperative pain and a short hospital stay. Additionally, due to the high precision of surgery, it can protect the surrounding normal tissues to the greatest extent and minimize thyroid/breast dysfunction caused by surgery. Furthermore, ULTPA leaves no incision or scar, thus preserving the patients' aesthetic appearance.
